Article 2 Clarify Flood Hazard Area re: Flood Insurance Rate Maps

Article 2 Flood Hazard Areas

What it means: This Article is meant to bring the Floodplain Development Regulation section of the town’s ordinance into compliance with the preliminary Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM), allowing Hampton to remain eligible to participate in the National Flood Insurance Program once the new FIRM maps become effective in September.

Those in favor say: These changes are necessary for the town to maintain its eligibility to participate in the National Flood Insurance Program. Without the change, individual homeowners will not be able to purchase flood insurance.

Those against say: No one spoke against this Article at Deliberative Session.
