To see if the School District will vote to approve the cost items included in the collective bargaining agreement reached between the Winnacunnet School Board and the Seacoast Education Association, which calls for the following increases and reductions in salaries and benefits at the current staffing levels:
Year Est Salary Incr Est Health Ins Cost Est Salary-Driven Benefis Total Est Cost
2016-17 $292,544 $8,311 $69,333 $370,188
2017-18 $270,240 ($61,930) $64,047 $272,357
and to further raise and appropriate the sum of $370,188 for the 2016-17 school year, such sum representing the additional costs attributable to the increase in salaries and benefits required by the new agreement over those that would be paid at current staffing levels in accordance with the current collective bargaining agreement. (Majority vote required.)
What it means: Here is a link to a pdf with more information about the make up of the Collective Bargaining Agreement:
Those in favor say: The dollar increases are fair in relation to the “give backs” on health insurance.
Those against say: The agreement is too generous, especially in contrast to the other Collective Bargaining Agreements in town.
